\nwind ravaged
\nirrigation equipment abandoned
\nor perhaps left
\nto ride out the freeze
\nwait for seed planting, life nurturing days
\ncattle pens empty
\nanimals whipped
\nwhile foraging on grasses
\nunprotected in the snow<\/p>\n
not exactly hospitable
\nthrow open the door
\ncome sit by the fire
\nwelcome<\/p>\n
I\u2019m only passing through
\non my way to somewhere else
\nstill I feel the chill
\nrecognize the landscape
\nnot sure if the road will take me to warmth
\nor the passing of days
\nthe stubborn searching of my own heart
\njust know I\u2019m ready for the invitation of an open door
\nthe shelter of a place by the hearth
\nthe comfort of being home<\/p>\n
