NEW LIFE<\/strong><\/p>\n

our yard declared it first
\nsmall green shoots peered out
\ncautiously, yet steadily
\ncame into view
\ndustings of snow amid warming lows
\ngentle rain, caressing sun
\nshoots grew to leaves
\nbuds fattened and swelled
\nnow hover on the brink
\npoised to burst with color
\ndance with new life<\/p>\n

the church\u2019s announcement soon followed
\nthe tomb is empty
\ndeath has been shattered
\nstalking terror banished
\ndiscarded trappings shaken off
\npromise and hope launched center stage
\ncollapsed lungs fill with fresh breath
\nfrayed nerves knit into seamless wholeness
\ncrumbled bones pulse with possibility
\nfailures turned friends quiver in anticipation<\/p>\n

and me?
\nI\u2019m doing my best
\nto stave off the suspicion
\nthat life is behind me
\nclinging to the confidence
\na seed lies dormant
\nencased in the cold
\ncradled in the night<\/p>\n
