EMBRACING VULNERABILITY<\/b><\/p>\n
\nwe live in a land of tall trees
\nwith roads built into the sides of mountains
\npeering over the edge
\nwe occasionally glimpse the spot seeds take root
\nthey stretch and strain toward the heavens
\nbow and bend, paying homage to the wind
\nuntil they snap
\nexplode
\ntops crash to the ground
\ndone in by their own softness<\/p>\n
what designer uses pine
\nto build a 100-foot skyscraper
\nperhaps prudent to send something harder up
\nable to withstand the pressure
\nlet the soft ones keep their heads down
\nout of harm\u2019s way
\nyet, the ponderosas protest
\nthey\u2019ve grown with a dream
\nreaching to kiss the sky
\nfrolic with the wind<\/p>\n
I tend to play it safe
\ntuck inside myself
\nhunker down to ride out storms
\nshield the underbelly from harm
\nthese trees neither cower nor crouch
\nflaunting their towering majesty
\nthey meet the wind nose to nose
\nrelishing the dance
\nflexibility laced with strength
\nvulnerability pulsing with joy<\/p>\n
