Nursing in Public

NURSING IN PUBLIC

sitting in a church pew
waiting in an airport for grandma
tucked into a rest area mid family adventure
more inclined to delight than annoyance
I smile at glimpses
of baby nestled inside discretion
dining on mother’s gift

having no appetite for human subtleties and finesse
two deer stand in the middle of State Highway 97
as traffic stops and gathers
a spotted young kid bounces onto the road
slides naturally through the arch of mom’s legs
butting and bumping his way
to breakfast
only to be joined a few swallows later
by a twin at the breast

is there anything more beautiful
or worthy of being late to church
than the sight of young life
feasting on a banquet of love’s nectar ?

… baby nestled inside discretion … no appetite for human subtleties and finesse … the sight of young life …

    Beautiful words and images.
