Glimpse Two

I seek to prepare to celebrate the birth of God-with-Us this year by watching for instances of the holy breaking into the ordinary.  With eyes wide open and a spirit attempting to be attentive, I will share glimpses of glory that I witness as Christmas approaches.

They shall not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain.

The five of them stopped nibbling and stood at full attention, watching as the wheelbarrow and I approached. After a few moments and as I continued to draw closer, they pranced a short distance, white flags fully raised. When they had gone no more than twenty yards, they stopped, turned and watched some more. Finally I was the one to pivot, tend to the wheelbarrow and withdraw. Twenty minutes later, I was back. One deer had returned to munch and again gave me her complete, undivided attention – until she decided to saunter into a small stand of trees near by, from which she continued the vigil.

I’m not sure how they received or read the memo, but it seems the message got through: you are welcome here. Let this be a safe place, for you and for all.

    Just lovely, Alice

  1. How lovely, Alice. I have the same kinds of encounters in nature and it comforts me — and, I hope, them! Love and Blessings, Dear Friend, Don

They are not the only ones who feel safe and welcome at your home. (there are hearts and hugs here for you!)
